First off, BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER is originally just another Hatsune Miku song, but the original character design for it gained so much popularity, it even got one hell of a badass figure made for it (by Good Smile Company). A pretty awesome figure that I won’t be able to get -_-
Anyway, GSC now wants to take a step further and actually produce an anime with that character (BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER) that was originally created for the song’s PV!! The official BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER website just recently put up the announcement. Supposedly, a pilot DVD/BD will be coming out that contains some footage of the anime (which will air in Spring by the way… two and a half seasons away from now >.<) along with a CD that contains a rerecording of the song… Erm… Of the “live version” of the song rather… When did Miku sing this live again >_>? Maybe she’ll sing it in animelo lol Oh yeah, it’ll also contain a booklet with sketches from the anime *nods* I’m probably getting this the minute I see it on cdjapan XD The DVD version costs the same as what a normal single+DVD costs, so yah~ :p
Okay, so now we have badass not-really-Miku anime, with a rather huge company backing it up, and supposedly some pretty decent animation. Erm… Let’s hope they don’t forget a decent story… Oh yeah, seeing as it’s huke (for the designs) and ryo in charge of the music, I suppose we shouldn’t be too worried about that aspect. Doubt they’ll pull off anything too grand though either, but you never know.
Last thing to add is that the people in charge of directing are Yamamoto and Yoshioka Shinobu, i.e. the people in charge of Kannagi, Lucky Star and Haruhi… Uhh, I’ll leave that interpretation up to you ;p

EDIT: Okay, Miku did sing BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER in Animelo XD Says so on the official Animelo site =3 So I suppose we’ll be getting a re-recording based on that… Uhh… I suppose I’ll have to wait and see what was so special about that performance XD
EDIT 2: So not only did Miku sing BLACK★ROCK SHOOTER in Animelo, but they even put up that pilot video during the second half of the song :p Here’s Miku’s actual appearance in Animelo :p Now the mystery has been solved XD

We need it to be released first before we can get any subs XD Once it’s actually released though, I don’t think the subs will be taking long for the episodes :p If anything, I think this is gonna be one of those ridiculously over-subbed anime lol

Black Rock Shooter was a character originally designed by Huke. The group that does VOCALOID just liked it so much that they wanted to base a song on her, so it’s not just another Hatsune Miku song.
It’s still a song though isn’t it? ^^ As in, the name “Black Rock Shooter” is the title of a song, as well as a character’s name :p
